Gavin Crawford is one of Canada’s brightest comedic and dramatic performers – best known for star turns on This Hour Has 22 Minutes, on CBC, and his eponymous series, The Gavin Crawford Show, on the Comedy Network, currently available on Hulu.
Originally from Taber, Alberta, Gavin made his first appearance at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in 1999. Since then, he has performed at numerous showcases and festivals across the country, and was a member of the Second City MainStage company in Toronto for two years. He has produced several one-man shows, including the recent sold out Fringe sensation, “Friend” “Like” #Me.
Gavin appeared in eight seasons of This Hour Has 22 Minutes to much critical acclaim, audiences fell in love with characters like Mark Jackson – teen correspondent, and Gavin’s dead on impressions of everyone from Stuart McLean to Chantal Hebert. He won several Gemini Awards for his work on the show, as well as a Writers Guild of Canada Award. He also co-wrote and starred in the award-winning series The Gavin Crawford Show, which aired on the Comedy Network from 2000 to 2003. In 2008 he hosted CBC’s reality show How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? Gavin has won 2 DORA Award for his work on stage in The Situationists, and A Few Brittle Leaves. He received a Gemini Award for a guest star role on The Murdoch Mysteries. He also won the 2012 Canadian Comedy Award for Best Performance by a Male in Film for his role in French Immersion. In in 2013 his CBC special Gavin Crawford’s Wild West was given a Canadian Screen Award for best writing in a comedy. In 2015, ACTRA awarded Gavin with the honour of Outstanding Performance by a Male for his portrayal of a transgender man in the film Two 4 One.
