The Way We Feel – an annual live concert celebration of the songs of Gordon Lightfoot now in its 14th year – brings a variety of Canada’s finest contemporary roots/blues/folk/jazz artists together to explore and showcase the songs of one of Canada’s greatest living songwriters. The annual celebration has called Toronto’s Hugh’s Room home since its first performance in January 2003, and for the past 14 years it has boasted 3 consecutive sold-out shows each and every year. The show has also toured limited-run engagements across Ontario 3 times over the past ten years. Over the years the concert has featured more than a 100 different Canadian artists, among them multiple Juno, ECMA, WCMA, Maple Blues and CFMA-award winners all bringing their unique musical vision to dozens of classic Lightfoot songs. A small sampling of past performers includes Ron Sexsmith, DALA, Oh Susanna, Lori Cullen, Matt Barber, Dave Gunning, Kevin Fox, The Skydiggers, Ron Hynes and Royal Wood – to name just a few.  Gordon Lightfoot himself has even joined in and performed onstage at Hugh’s Room at a number of the January concerts.

2017 will mark the 15th anniversary of THE WAY WE FEEL.  A new studio recording featuring 15 Canadian artists each performing their unique arrangements of Lightfoot classics will be released, followed by a Canada-wide tour in 2017/2018 showcasing some of the CD’s contributing artists, a top-notch house band, as well as special guests in each community.

The Gordon Lightfoot celebration at The Meaford Hall was one of the most dynamic, heartfelt and engaging performances I’ve seen in a long time. Each adaptation was performed with genuine artistry. It was an evening of community, gathered in one spot to celebrate a musician who is part of the Canadian fabric. Joyful.

…it was sensational! Jory, Jason Fowler, Michael Johnston and Ron Nigrini put on a Lightfoot show that was a joy to behold from start to finish. Each of the performers was remarkable in terms of their musical chops but also in the way that they interpreted Gord’s songbook. I was mesmerized by the music, the interactions, the stories and the laid-back vibe of the concert and would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone who’s ever heard and loved a Gordon Lightfoot song.
